Case Study
Super Pizza (SP) wants to install a system to record orders for pizza and side dishes. There are more than ten different pizza are available for customers to choose from. Each pizza is made by carefully selected ingredients. Customers can also add or remove any ingredient for their favourite taste when they place an order.
Customers can order their pizza via telephone or go to shop in person. When customers call SP on the phone, they are asked their phone numbers. If they have purchased pizza from SP before, their information is already saved in the computer. When the number is typed into a computer, the name, address, and last order date is automatically brought up on the screen. If a new customer is calling, the information is asked and entered into computer by the staffs. If the customers place their order in the shop in person, their names are asked and called when their pizza is ready.
Once the order is taken, the total, including tax and delivery, is calculated. Then the order is given to the cook. A receipt is printed. Drivers who make delivery give customers a copy of the receipt and a coupon (if any). The customers who place orders in the shop will be given a receipt when they pick up the pizza.
At the end of each day, a daily sale report is generated and reviewed by the manager. Weekly totals are kept for comparison with last year`s performance.
