Students will form into groups of three to four and negotiate with an organization (manufacturing or service) and identify areas of particular interest for continue improvement. The project involves research, analysis and the development of practical options in operations management. The group project has two accessible parts, a group written report (60%) and a 30 minutes oraloral presentation (40%).
The group is required to identify and define a problem or opportunity, gather data, analyse the data, investigate options and propose a solution to the problem or propose how the opportunity may be realised. The group is also required to plan the implementation of the initiative. The project is not about a general description of the operations management of the organisation
