Illustrate this approach with examples from Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, and Tertullian. Do you think their approach was consistent with Scriptural teaching? How did Irenaeus use the example of the church in Rome? How did this approach to dealing with heresy start to change around AD 200? And now for some reflection: is heresy still present in the world today? Give examples. Do you think we are reluctant to label something as heresy, or label someone as a heretic? Are we reluctant to oppose heresy? Should we oppose heresy coming from within the church, as well as from outside sources? How should we do that?
