Choose a mathematics concept that is troublesome (see Module 2 for a list of possible topics). You are going to research and discuss this concept in depth. Please choose a narrow area (e.g. the division of fractions or the addition of vectors) Discuss the development of this concept (related to the Australian Curriculum) from 7 - 10 or Years 11 and 12. The discussion needs to include: introduction and outline the development of this concept (related to the Australian Curriculum) from 7 - 10 or 11 and 12 what students need to know before year 7 and where the concept is needed after year 10 or (for Senior curriculum) before year 11. why it is troublesome (refer to literature) methods to assist students to understand the concept. You will need to clarify what you mean by understanding (refer to Module 1 and the literature) conclusion references Include at least three screencasts of you actually solving problems that you could give to students to aid in the understanding of the concepts (i.e. you, the teacher) Note that these three screencasts should form a set that demonstrates the progression of student learning through a single idea. Attach a version of the Mathscast context map (as shown in Module 3) showing where your screencasts ‘fit’ into the context of the curriculum content.
