Task 1 Explain the relationship between cells, tissues, organs and organ systems in the organisation of the human body by identifying the levels of organisation, from organelles within an animal cell to an entire organ system. This could take the form of a flow chart illustrating the concept, with annotated illustrations showing the interrelationship between the levels. Task 2 Give examples of three differentiated cells. For each one provide a diagram and a description that explains how it is adapted to its function. Task 3 Describe each of the following tissue types. Include diagrams, and examples. Task 4 You are going to interpret the electron micrographs provided by your course tutor to identify the following organelles. Make a drawing of the organelle in the box provided and label each drawing. 1. Cell membrane 2. Cell wall 3. Mitochondrion 4. Endoplasmic reticulum (smooth and rough) 5. Golgi body/Golgi apparatus 6. Nucleus 7. Nucleolus 8. Lysosomes 9. Cytoplasm 10. Ribosome 11. Vesicles Task 5 Produce a table that describes the cell components found in prokaryotic compared to eukaryotic cells. For each component include a diagram, a name and what its role is in the cell. Task 6 Describe what stem cells are, and the different types of stem cells. Explain the potential uses of stem cells in medical science. Analyse the moral and ethical issues surrounding the use of stem cells. Include some examples of different groups that will have a different point of view on their use. :
